Headaches & Migraines

Chiropractic Care for Headache & Migraine Relief

Headaches, particularly migraines can cause havoc in your life. People facing regular episodes of migraines are prone to bad quality of life. Constant migraines can eventually cause a patient to lose interest and focus in many aspects of their life. Headaches don’t have to be considered a normal part of your life – in they don’t have to be and should be treated as early as possible. A chiropractor can alleviate your constant headaches and migraines, especially if your primary car physician doesn’t seem to be providing much support.

What Qualifies As A Migraine?

For those, who have never experienced migraine, it is an extreme (and longer) form of a headache that traditionally is accompanied with sensitivity to light and sound. Sufferers of migraines frequently describe it as intense, pounding, and throbbing pain. The duration of a migraine varies from three hours to four days and they can occur from three to four times a month (for some individuals, even more often). Its other symptoms include nausea, sweating, vomiting, increased breathing, sensitivity to smells, upset stomach, and belly pain.

Migraines are usually triggered by some external stimuli that varies from person to person. Chocolate and coffee are considered as very effective agents behind a migraine attack. Changes in sleep pattern and stress can also invite an onset of a migraine.

Early Symptoms and Indications

You may notice changes in your behaviour or activity one or two days before a migraine attack that are considered as a warning sign. You should be vigilant and ready to face a migraine attack if you suddenly have constipation, frequent yawning, neck stiffness, food cravings, mood swings, and intense thirst.

Migraines are a difficult disease to handle – emotionally, psychologically, and medicinally. Medicine, special diets, better sleep, and avoiding triggers, are excellent ways to be vigilant but are not 100% effective in preventing a migraine or headache. Growing attention for alternative treatment options including meditation, yoga, and chiropractic care are bringing more individuals to our office for relief.

Chiropractic Treatment

Chiropractic in general is an alternative medicine that focuses on diagnosis and treatment of mechanical disorder of musculoskeletal system, specifically the spine. Spinal cord adjustment has proved to be an effective treatment of lower back pain, neck stiffness and injury, and joint pain and swelling.

Chiropractic therapy has shown significant results in treating migraines as well. Studies have proved chiropractic treatments cause significant improvements in intensity, frequency, and duration of a migraine attack.
